CAN SCULPTRA BE USED FOR MY BUTT AUGMENTATION?

Brazillian Butt Lift Austin, TX

This is a great question as butt augmentation has become one of the most popular procedures in America. Patients have several options, the most common being a Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer to the buttock). Some of my thin patients will have an augmentation with butt implants or a combination of butt implants and fat transfer. The procedures have given patients incredible results that have not only enhanced their butt, it transforms them from a square to an hourglass figure.

However, there are patients that are not ready to undergo a surgical procedure or are looking for in-office procedures that have minimal downtime for their butt enhancement. Sculptra is a great option for patients that want a butt or hip augmentation with minimal to no downtime.

The Sculptra can be used for an initial butt or hip augmentation or to enhance the appearance of a butt augmentation that a patient has had previously. The Sculptra works by stimulating the body to create its own collagen. The Sculptra can be injected evenly though out the butt or hip area to give a natural and soft augmentation to the area.

Sculptra is not a replacement for a Brazilian Butt Lift or butt implant enhancement, however, it is a great alternative for patients wanting to improve their current butt augmentation or wanting to enhance their buttocks without surgery and with minimal downtime. I explain to the patient that this is similar to facial rejuvenation. Fillers are not a replacement for a facelift, however, they do help a tremendous number of patients and often put off the need for surgery for years. It also allows your plastic surgeon to do some fine-tuning of your butt after your BBL or implant surgery.

The amount of Sculptra that is needed for butt enhancement is dependent on the areas being treated, however, it is more vials than is typically used in facial rejuvenation. Several vials of Sculptra are injected into the buttock or hip area in the initial treatment. It takes six weeks to two months to see the full results of the Sculptra treatment. Most patients will need two or three treatments to achieve their desired results.

The good news is that Sculptra lasts longer than a lot of the fillers on the market. The typical patient will get around a year and a half from each treatment. Also, Sculptra is different in that it stimulates the body to create its own collagen and thus gives patients a very natural and smooth appearance to their butt.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FAT TRANSFER AND A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

Brazilian Butt Lift is a popular term that is commonly used to describe a butt augmentation that is performed only with fat transfer. The Brazilian Butt Lift typically includes liposuction of the abdomen, back, and flanks (occasionally other areas as needed), that fat is then processed and used to augment the buttock. The combination of the lipo sculpting and the fat transfer has the ability to transform a patient’s shape from a square to more of an hourglass figure. This total body transformation is one of the reasons that the Brazilian Butt Lift has become so popular.

When people talk about fat transfer it can be done in isolation as is done with a Brazilian Butt Lift or in combination with butt implants. The fat can be used to augment the buttocks or the hips. Patients that have a limited amount of fat to be transferred often have a combination of butt implants and fat transfer. This way the implants can create the majority of the butt augmentation, while the fat is used to soften the implants and augment the hips.

In plastic surgery, there can be several terms to describe the same procedure. This can also be confusing to patients as some of the terms are used interchangeably. Please discuss your butt augmentation options with your board-certified plastic surgeon. He or she will be able to help guide you to the procedure that would be best to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BUTT AUGMENTATION AND A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

Butt augmentation is a relatively new procedure that has gained in popularity over the past several years, however, there are several terms that are used to describe the various procedures and often can be confusing.

Butt Augmentation:
This is a general term that is used to describe any surgery that increases the size of the buttock. This can be done with fat injections (Brazilian Butt Lift) or with implants.

Brazilian Butt Lift:
Is fat transfer to the buttock, this procedure has become so popular because it enables your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. Liposuction is performed over several areas depending on the individual patient’s needs, but typically of the flanks, abdomen, back, and thighs.

The fat is then processed and used to augment the buttocks. So even though it is called a butt lift, the purpose is to augment the buttock. This fill or enhancement is what allows your surgeon to lift your buttocks.

Butt Lift:
This is another general term that includes any surgery that lifts the buttock. The lift can be done by augmenting (with fat or implants) or surgically lifting the butt.

Fat Transfer:
Fat transfer is basically the Brazilian Butt Lift. It is the use of the fat to augment, shape, and lift the buttock. The fat is liposuctioned from various parts of the body and then transferred to the buttocks.

WHAT’S THE RATING OF FAT TRANSFER (BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT) ON REALSELF?

Fat transfer has been a hot topic the past few years and because of that a lot of surgeons have tried to perform the procedure without proper training or experience. When fat grafting was first being performed many surgeons did not appreciate the fine and subtle techniques that are needed to achieve the results that patients desire

Also like any new topic people used it as an answer to any problem and thought that it could replace implants and magically fix any problem. As with any new product or technique, it has settled down to a realistic procedure that has its place in aesthetic surgery.

For patients to get the results they are looking for they need to have the procedure done by an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon that performs a tremendous amount of fat transfer.

This is important because the surgeon will be able to be realistic with you about the results that are possible from fat transfer and tell you whether you are a good candidate for the procedure or not.

A surgeon who performs a lot of these procedures also has a system in place that allows him or her to process the fat and shape the body in the best possible way.

ARE THERE CREAMS OR MEDICATIONS THAT I CAN TAKE TO ENHANCE MY BUTTOCK?

Unfortunately, there are currently no creams or pills available that are going to enhance your buttocks. Currently, there are only three ways to augment your buttocks. First is diet and exercise, second is the Brazilian Butt Lift, and lastly buttock implants. Stay away from any creams or medications that claim to enhance your shape. Before starting any medications consult with your doctor to make sure that they are safe.

The Brazilian butt lift (fat transfer to the buttock) is so popular because it enables your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. Liposuction is performed over several areas depending on the individual patient’s needs, but typically of the flanks, abdomen, back, and thighs. You currently have a very square shape (which is more common than most people realize).

The butt implants are a good option for patients that are too thin for the Brazilian Butt Lift and want to enhance their shape. The implants give patients a good option.

DOES THE FAT INJECTION GO ABOVE THE MUSCLE OR IN THE MUSCLE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

The Brazilian Butt lift is a relatively new procedure and there are several ways that it is performed. The fat is harvested via liposuction and then processed so that only pure fat remains for the augmentation.

The actual injection of the fat is done in small even aliquots so that the injected fat is surrounded by natural tissue. The fat can be injected into several planes depending on the amount of fat that needs to be injected for the desired augmentation. In large augmentations, such as greater than 1000cc the fat will need to be injected into all of the various planes for the augmentation.

The use of blunt cannulas and small even injections allow for the placement of large amounts of fat both above and in the muscle during your Brazilian Butt Lift.

BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT FOR THIN PEOPLE

Often patients are surprised that they have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift and if not there are other options. Let’s discuss the difference between the two, but ultimately you need to see your board-certified plastic surgeon to help guide you to which procedure is best for you!

Brazilian butt lift (fat transfer to the buttock) is so popular because it enables your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. Liposuction is performed over several areas depending on the individual patient’s needs, but typically of the flanks, abdomen, back, and thighs. This is an amazing procedure because it allows your surgeon to tailor your results to your individual needs and desires!

The amount of fat needed depends on the shape and needs of each individual patient, however, in general, at least 500cc per buttock needs to be placed to see a significant difference. On average patients typically receive around 800cc per buttock side for a total of 1600cc of fat transfer. Also, the sculpting done with liposuction is a big part of the procedure to improve the overall shape.

If a patient has a BMI less than 22 they typically will not have enough fat for the Brazilian butt lift. In these patients, buttock implants are a good option for our thin patients. The implant can give patients a full, enhanced appearance.

Some patients have both the fat transfer and implants as this helps improve the overall shape and gives them more augmentation than would be possible with either procedure alone.

I AM A SKINNY PATIENT WANTING A BIGGER BUTT, WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

This is a very common question as butt augmentation has become so popular over the past few years. The three most common methods of butt augmentation are the Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer), butt implants, and a combination of fat transfer and butt implants. Which treatment is best for you really depends on your aesthetic goals, body frame, and available fat. The good news is that skinny patients have options too that can give them phenomenal results.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is typically a great option for patients that have sufficient fat for their augmentation. Patients are usually surprised that they have enough fat for their augmentation. Patients with a BMI greater than 22 in general will have enough fat for their Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. The benefits of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure are that it not only enhances the buttock, it improves the overall figure of the patient. It can transform a patient from a square to more of an hourglass figure. The combination of shaping the waist and enhancing the buttocks is what has made the procedure so popular.

Butt augmentation with implants is a great option for patients that do not have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift. The implants give patients a great shape that can lift and augment the buttocks in thin patients. The implants not only enhance the size, but they improve the overall shape of the buttock. The butt implants (just like breast implants) come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They can also be placed in a variety of locations depending on the needs of the individual patient.

The third option is a combination of fat transfer and butt implants. This option allows your waist to be shaped with the liposuction (fat harvest), the augmentation and projection of your buttock with the implant and then the fat is used to soften the buttock and enhance any further areas that the implant did not augment such as the hips. This combination can be a very powerful tool for augmentation as it combines the positive effects of both butt augmentation procedures.

These three methods of butt augmentation can help the vast majority of patients achieve their butt augmentation goals. This gives people a variety of choices to help them get the look they desire. Please discuss your butt augmentation procedure with our board-certified plastic surgeon who can help guide you through the process.

Surgery Information

BUTT IMPLANT AGE REQUIREMENTS

Butt augmentation is typically and aesthetic procedure and thus we usually have patients wait until they are 18 years of age.

Most of our aesthetic patients wait until they are 18 years of age to have a cosmetic procedure as this gives their body time to mature fully. In reconstructive surgeries such as congenital breast deformities or special occasions such as that, we do occasionally perform surgeries on younger patients.

WILL MY BUTT BE SAGGY AFTER REMOVING BUTT IMPLANTS?

It is rare that individuals want to remove their butt implants (just like very few people want to remove their breast implants). However, occasionally people do want to remove their implants for various reasons.

The most common question after the removal of implants is whether or not they will have saggy or loose skin. This depends on a couple of different factors. One what size implants the patient had placed for the augmentation. The smaller the implants the less effect it will have on the overlying skin. A 200 to 300cc butt implant is much less likely to affect the skin than a 700 or 800cc implant.

The second factor is the integrity of the skin prior to the butt augmentation. Many patients have implants placed to lift the buttocks. If this was the case the butt will lose some of its lift or perkiness after the removal. If the patient has good skin and had a good shape prior to the butt augmentation they are likely to still have a good shape to their butt after removal of the implants.

How someone will react to the removal of the implants depends from patient to patient. We typically tell patients it is similar to breasts after pregnancy, some women’s breasts look great after having kids, and other women’s breasts completely deflate and fall.

BUTT IMPLANT REVISION – CAN I GO BIGGER?

In both butt and breast augmentation if patients could change one thing after their surgery they often wish they had gone bigger.

The short answer is yes you can typically go bigger. There is some limit to the initial surgery that can be done in terms of what implant your body and handle. With time the skin stretches to accommodate the new implant. That is why it is easier to place a bigger implant than you might have been able to do at the initial surgery.

Determining the best size for an individual person is always the most difficult decision. Also, there is a limit to the size of butt implant that can be placed at an initial surgery, as the skin has to be able to accommodate the implant. After the skin has stretched and relaxed patients can then exchange their implants for a larger size if they desire.

The short answer is yes you can change your butt implants for larger ones. We typically make patients wait at least six months after their original surgery before exchanging the implants. This will allow all the swelling to resolve and the implants to settle before making any decisions.

There are not as many implant choices for butt implants like there is for breast implants but there are a few companies that offer larger implants. You still want to make sure the implants fit your body to minimize the risk of complications.

Most patients want to improve the appearance of their buttocks but still want it to look natural and have a smooth transition.

Occasionally we will have patients that present with a visible implant after their augmentation. In these cases, you may be able to see the outline of the implant in an extremely flexed position. There are several ways to improve the appearance of the augmentation. One is fat transfer, however, the majority of patients that have butt implants have little fat for further augmentation and buffering of the implants.

The second option is exchanging the implant. There are different butt implants in various sizes and shapes. An implant that is wider and has a more gradual transition may give you a more natural appearance.

BUTT IMPLANTS SUBFASCIAL VS INTRAMUSCULAR SHAPE VS ROUND?

Butt augmentation has become very popular over the past several years. It has been the fastest-growing aesthetic procedure in the U.S. for the past few years. There are two methods for butt augmentation. The first is the Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer) the second is Butt implants, both are good options and just dependent on the individual patient.

Brazillian Butt Lift Austin, TX

Butt Implants are great for thin patients that do not have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift or for patients that are looking for a lot of projection. The implants can be done alone or in combination with fat transfer.

There are several ways to place butt implants and the methods vary from surgeon to surgeon. We commonly place the implants in a subfascial position for several reasons. One, the subfacial plane is very clean and avoids damaging the muscles or nerves. However, it still holds the implant in the proper position and decreases the chance of scar tissue forming around the implant. The fascia is the strong covering that wraps the muscle, which is why it can hold the implant in place. The submuscular plane can also be used but in my experience, patients tend to have more pain and over time has little benefit over the subfacial system.

In terms of the implant both the round and shape are good implants. We use the round implant for several reasons. It gives a good projection, of what patients who receive the implant are typically looking for from their procedure. Also, the butt takes abuse in our daily life from falls and so forth, with the round implant you are less likely to have problems if the implant shifts at all. With a shaped implant if it moves at all it will need to be revised, this is not necessarily true with a round implant.

BUTT IMPLANTS WITH FAT TRANSFER TO HIPS AND THIGHS?

Butt implants with fat transfer is the best of both worlds! It is an option and very common in my practice. It allows the augmentation of the implant and the shaping of the liposuction. The fat that is harvested can also be used to enhance the hips or other areas that your plastic surgeon may want to enhance after the placement of the implant. At times the implant can lack fullness laterally and in the hips. It can also add a buffer to the implant, softening the feel and appearance.

BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION FOR ATHLETES?

Athletes and personal trainers are very common patients as their appearance is very important in their profession. Many of people have a very low body fat percentage which overall is great however in certain areas such as the face and butt.

For these patients, we typically do a combination of fat transfer and butt implants as they typically do not have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift. When the implant is placed in a subfacial or submuscle position patients typically cannot see the edges of the implant.

The good news is that there are options that can give you a good result.

ROUND OR OVAL BUTT IMPLANTS?

As technology has improved our options for butt augmentation (and breast augmentation) have continued to grow. Which is great for patients and helping them achieve their aesthetic goals. However, sometimes there are so many options that it can be overwhelming.

Patients often come in and ask which is the best implant. And unfortunately, there is no one “best” implant for everyone. The correct implant depends on each individual patient’s desired shape and size, their body form and the pre-operative shape of their buttock.

The round implants are the most common implant in my practice for several reasons. The implant is more forgiving if the patient ever has trauma to her butt. If the implant rotates or shifts just a little it will not change the appearance of the buttock. It also gives patients a very nice round full shape that the majority of my patients are looking to achieve.

The shaped implants are great implants as well. We only use them if I really think they are going to make a difference for a patient as they do have the added risk of the implant rotating or shifting. There is this thought that a shaped implant (in both breast and butt) can lift more of the lower portion of the butt or breast. It might, but very little, and typically is not worth the extra risk.

Talk to your plastic surgeon, show him or her pictures of what you are trying to achieve and they will be able to help guide you in what implant is best for you.

Butt implants have continued to gain popularity as butt augmentation in general has become a more common surgery. Butt implants are used in two groups of patients most commonly, with the first group being patients that do not have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift. The second reason is in patients that have had a Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer) but have not achieved the fullness that they desire. These implants can be a great option for both groups of patients.

There is a wide range of implants for patients to choose from to help them achieve the butt augmentation they desire. The butt implants range from round to oval (shaped) and in sizes from 200 to 700cc. We personally use the round implants most often in my practice for several reasons. The first is that they tend to give patients the most projection and round appearance that most patients wanting butt implants are hoping to achieve. Second is that they are less likely to have problems such as rotation, in an oval implant they have to keep their exact position. Round implants have some flexibility to rotate and still look great.

DO BUTT IMPLANTS COME IN A VARIETY OF SIZES

Butt implants, much like breast implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes. There are not as many options in terms of various sizes and shapes but there are plenty for patients to choose from.

The implants are of solid silicone so that they can take the daily abuse that our butt endures. They come in round and shaped implants. There are sizes from as small as 200cc up to almost 800cc for each implant.

Just like with breast implants, it is important to discuss with your plastic surgeon your wishes and aesthetic goals so that you can achieve the look that you desire. Your surgeon will help guide you in deciding on a butt implant.

IS A 275CC BUTT IMPLANT TOO BIG FOR MY BODY?

Deciding on a butt implant size can be very difficult for patients. One of the issues is that patients have so many choices for their augmentation. Implants range in size from 200 to 800cc and come in a round or shaped implant. However, the benefit of this spectrum of implants is that it allows your surgeon to tailor your augmentation to your specific desires and goals.

Similar to breast augmentation there is a range of implants that can be used for each specific person. No one size fits everyone. In general patients in my practice that have butt implants for their butt augmentation are one of two groups of patients. The first is patients who are very thin or patients who want more augmentation than might be possible with fat transfer alone.

In general 275cc butt implants tend to be on the smaller side in my practice. On average patients in our practice have implants placed that are between 450 and 550cc per side. However, it depends on a patient’s body frame and what they are hoping to achieve. We typically have patients bring in pictures or have them review my pictures so we can get a feel for what they like and then we can guide them to what implant size will be best for them.

The incisions for a butt implant are well hidden in the crease of the buttock. Similar to how a breast fold incision is hidden for a breast augmentation. This way in a bikini or panties the incision will be well hidden.

BUTTOCKS-AUGMENTATION/DO-BUTT-IMPLANTS-EVER-NEED-REPLACING?

This is a great question as the recommendations for implants can be confusing at times. The confusion often stems from the old recommendation that breast implants need to be changed every 10 years, that is no longer true. In our practice, if patients love their breasts and implants we do not change them just because they reach a certain age.

However, if patients are very young it also doesn’t mean that the implant will last 80 years. Occasionally patients will need the implant revised or exchanged. It is common for patients to have the implants for many years before ever needing to do any type of exchange or revision.

Patients tend to be extremely happy with the butt implants. It is a great option for patients who don’t have enough fat or want more projection than is possible with fat transfer alone. Some patients also have a combination of fat transfer and butt implants to achieve the results that they desire.

CAN A BRAZILIAN BUTTLIFT BE DONE AFTER BUTT IMPLANTS?

A Brazilian Butt Lift can be done after butt implants if patients need fat transfer. The benefit is not only the additional fat that is added that can fill any gaps that were not enhanced by the implants but can also improve the overall shape of the patient.

The benefit of the Brazilian Butt Lift is that it shapes the waist as fat is liposuctioned (harvested) to be used for the enhancement. Then the fat can be used to enhance the overall shape of the buttock and hips. It will also help buffer the implant so that it has a more natural feel and look to the augmentation.

The only issue is that a large percentage of women that have butt implants have them because they were too thin for fat transfer. If you have enough fat then you can certainly have a Brazilian Butt Lift after your augmentation with implants.

WHAT KIND, VOLUME, AND SIZE IMPLANTS DO I NEED FOR A BIGGER BUTT?

Deciding on the proper implant size and shape can be difficult for patients just as it is when women are deciding on the proper breast implant size.

First of all, there is no one perfect implant for every person. The ideal implant depends on the aesthetic goals that each person is trying to achieve from their augmentation. Typically we will take measurements of the buttock and determine what implants will fit your buttock. There are a range of butt implants and profiles (just like breast implants, though not as many).

The implants are a solid silicone implant that comes in round and shaped styles. The round implants are the most common in the U.S. and in my practice. The implants will help shape your butt and hips to give them the projection and round figure that the patient hopes to achieve. Butt Implants are typically larger than breast implants, as people’s butts are typically larger than their breasts. In my practice the average butt implant range from 400 to 600cc. Please keep in mind that you cannot compare fat transfer and butt implants in terms of volume. Butt implants will give you much more projection and volume per cc than fat will do for your augmentation.

A couple of things patients can do is; have an open discussion with their surgeon about their aesthetic goals. Second is bringing in pictures that have the look that you are trying to achieve, as this will help your surgeon.

Once we know what you are looking for in terms of appearance and what your body can accommodate then we will give you some implants to choose from and help guide you as to what is best for your aesthetic goals.

WHICH BUTTOCK IMPLANT IS SAFER – COHESIVE GEL OR SOLID SILICONE?

Deciding on the proper implant type, size, and shape can be difficult for patients as there is an array of options to choose from for your butt augmentation.

The only FDA-approved gluteal implants in the U.S. are a solid silicone implant that comes in round and shaped styles. There is currently no cohesive gel implant approved in the United States for butt augmentation. One reason in the past, when butt augmentation with implants had issues, was that people were using breast implants and not gluteal implants that were specifically designed for butt augmentations.

The benefit of using an implant that has been FDA approved is that you know that there is a high standard and safety to the implants. The process is rigorous to have the implants approved and that is done to protect patients here in the United States. The reason that the implants are a solid silicone is that they can take the abuse that our butt may encounter on a daily basis.

The round implants are the most common in the U.S. and in my practice. The implants will help shape your butt and hips to give it the projection and round figure that the patient hopes to achieve.

Once we know what you are looking for in terms of appearance and what your body can accommodate then we will give you some implants to choose from and help guide you as to what is best for your aesthetic goals.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO COMBINE BUTT IMPLANTS AND FAT TRANSFER TO ADD MORE VOLUME

We commonly do a combination of butt implants and fat transfer. The reason for this is severalfold. One is that the liposuction of the flanks will help shape the waist to give you more of an hourglass figure.

The butt implant is used for the overall projection and volume of the buttock. This is great for patients who have a limited amount of fat available for transfer or what a significant amount of projection and size to their buttocks.

We then use the fat to shape the lateral buttocks and hips. This will let us put the icing on the cake of your butt augmentation. The fat can round out the buttock and sculpt any areas that are still lacking after the implant. It gives us more control as your surgeon to help you achieve your aesthetic goals from your procedure.

The combination of butt implants and fat transfer can make a dramatic difference for patients in terms of overall shape and butt enhancement.

The combination of butt implants and fat transfer is an incredible procedure as it combines the best of a Brazilian Butt Lift and augmentation with implants. The implant will give the patient the projection and fullness that they often desire from their butt augmentation. The fat is then used to soften the implant as the fat is an added layer of insulation around the implant. The fat can also be used to add volume to the hips or other areas that the implant did not augment.

We typically place the butt implants in a subfacial position, which holds the implant securely in position and allows the maximum amount of projection. The implant is used to shape the buttock giving it a more round, lifted, and youthful appearance.

The fat transfer is used for two purposes. One is to sculpt the waist as the liposuction that is needed for the fat harvesting is typically removed from the flanks and abdomen. This is useful in transforming your shape from square to hourglass. The fat can then be processed and placed around the implant to add more fat above the implant. The fat can also be used to augment the hips as the butt implant may not completely fill the hips.

The idea of using fat is not new to plastic surgery. Plastic surgeons have been using fat in breast reconstruction to soften the implants giving them a more natural appearance and feel for years. The more fat there is around the implant whether it is fat that was naturally there or fat that was transferred will buffer the implant. This is true for breast or butt implants.

A butt augmentation with implants and fat transfer is a great option for patients that want the maximum amount of projections, improve their overall shape, and still want to have a natural feel to their buttocks.

WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL RISKS FOR BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is so popular because it enables your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. Liposuction is performed over several areas depending on the individual patient’s needs, but typically of the flanks, abdomen, back, and thighs.

Patients typically see a dramatic change the next day, as the areas that have been liposuctioned will improve the entire shape of the patient. The buttock is swollen and bruised from the procedure but this is normal after any surgical procedure.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is like any surgical procedure it does have risks and that is why you need to make sure that your procedure is performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon at an accredited surgery center.

The most common risk after a Brazilian butt lift are infection and fat necrosis. Patients are given antibiotics at the time of surgery to decrease the risk of infection. Fat necrosis is a risk that is unique to fat transfer. The beauty of the procedure is that it uses your own fat. However, the fat has to be incorporated. Occasionally some of the fat will not and you can get a hard spot that is easily treated.

WHAT ARE THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

This is a great question as the Brazilian Butt Lift is an exciting new procedure that can enhance your overall figure!

There are several parts to the Brazilian Butt Lift and your results. First Brazilian Butt Lift entails liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, back and other areas depending on your specific needs. The fat that is liposuctioned is processed and used for your augmentation.

Once the fat has been harvested it is used to enhance and shape your buttock. The fat is unique in that it avoids the need for any implants in most cases. Also, the shape can be tailored to each individual person.

Patients are typically very swollen the first couple of weeks after surgery. The swelling goes down with time as with any procedure. Also, the areas that have had liposuction will continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 months as the swelling fades and the skin retracts.

With a Brazilian Butt Lift patients can lose around 30% of the fat that is transferred to the buttock.

Patients typically need a full six months to see their final results. It takes time for the swelling to resolve and the skin to retract. Once this has happened you have achieved your aesthetic result from your procedure. The key after that is to maintain your results. If you gain weight you can put weight back in the areas you had liposuction and other areas obviously. The fat that has been transferred is your fat and part of you at six months. However, it acts just like fat in any other part of your body. If you gain weight your butt will get bigger if you lose a lot of weight it will get smaller.

One of the great benefits of a Brazilian Butt Lift is that the fat is yours and you never have to worry about changing implants. It also gives people a very natural and lasting result.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE FOR BUTT IMPLANTS?

The recovery time for butt implants in my practice is very similar to that of a Brazilian Butt Lift. We have patients avoid sitting for two weeks as the implants need time to heal into their proper positions.

Many times butt implants are combined with fat transfer, if this is the case patients still need to avoid sitting for two weeks but tend to have a little more soreness in the areas where the liposuction was performed.

Patients still wear a specialized garment after the butt implant procedure. The garment is similar to a bra for the breasts. It just supports the area and makes things as comfortable as possible for patients after their surgery.

Please discuss your surgery with your board-certified plastic surgeon that performs a high volume of butt augmentation surgeries.

CAN YOU OR YOUR PARTNER FEEL YOUR BUTT IMPLANTS?

Butt implants have become extremely popular over the past few years. They have been used in two groups of patients, one is in patients that don’t have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift or want more augmentation than is possible with a Brazilian Butt Lift alone.

Butt implants just like any implant can be felt at first. The implant does make the butt slightly firmer, however, most of my patients want to firm up their butt a little.

Our patients have said that they get used to the implants and it just becomes part of them. After the initial period of not sitting to allow the implants to heal, they can sit and do activities as they did before the surgery.

We have asked my patients if their partners can feel them or if they get in the way during intercourse. Our patients have said that their partner can typically feel that the butt is a little firmer but that they have not had any complaints. They also have said that it has not kept them doing anything they want in that regard. They have said that the hardest part is trying to keep their partners’ hands off them during the first initial healing time.

WHY DO PLASTIC SURGEONS WANT TO KNOW MY BMI WHEN CONSULTING ABOUT A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a common method to measure a person’s current weight against their height. This measurement gives your surgeon an idea of how much excess fat you have for your Brazilian Butt Lift.

Typically the lowest BMI a patient can have for a Brazilian Butt Lift is 22. If patients have a lower BMI than this they are usually too thin and will not have enough fat for Brazilian Butt Lift and will need butt implants or a combination of implants and fat transfer.

If a patient has a BMI that is too high that can also be a problem for several reasons. One if a patient has a high BMI they are more likely to have a more difficult recovery. Also when a patient’s BMI is high it is much more difficult to sculpt a patient and give them the results that they desire. My typical BMI limit is 35, if patients are above that I will typically push them to lose weight and then be re-evaluated after their weight loss. This makes the process longer, but will ultimately give them a better aesthetic result.

WILL BUTTOCK IMPLANTS GIVE ME AN HOURGLASS FIGURE?

The appeal of a Brazilian Butt Lift is that it has transformed people’s figure from a square appearance to more of an hourglass shape.

Butt implants can enhance the overall shape of the buttock but typically on their own do not give patients an hourglass figure. If women have enough fat I will typically do a Brazilian Butt Lift so that I can shape their waist and then use the fat to enhance the hips and butt to give the improved shape.

In women that are very thin or want more augmentation than we can provide with fat alone, we will do a combination of butt implants and fat transfer. This will allow us to shape the waist, use the implant to give the buttock an incredible shape, and then use the fat to enhance the hip area creating the hourglass shape.

WOULD A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT GIVE ME A MORE OF AN HOURGLASS SHAPE?

The total body transformation that can be achieved with a Brazilian Butt Lift is the reason that it has become so popular. The procedure shapes the waist and hips to enhance the overall figure not just the buttocks.

The waist can be taken in shape during the liposuction (fat harvesting of the flanks and abdomen). Patients are often square and want more of a shaped figure that is going to look good in everything from business clothes to a bikini.

The fat is then transferred to the buttock and hip area. This combination enhances the overall figure giving patients the aesthetic appearance they desire. The majority of patients here in Austin want an aesthetic figure that looks good in daily clothes. The Brazilian Butt Lift helps achieve that as it transforms the entire shape of the body and not just enhances the buttock.

WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO SEE IMPLANTS IF PLACED SUBFASCIAL?

This is a great question as there are several ways in which a butt implant can be placed for your augmentation. The options that currently exist are above the muscle, subfacial, intramuscular, and submuscular placement of the implants. For the most part, they each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Placing the implant completely above the muscle is done less commonly as the implant is more likely to shift and it releases some of the natural attachments of the buttock. Submuscular was popular in the past as it created a buffer for the implant in an attempt to give patients a more natural appearance and feel to their butt augmentation. It has lost popularity as it can put people at risk for complications if the implant shifts. Because of the issues with placing the implant above and below the muscle the subfacial and intramuscular implant placement techniques have developed and have continued to increase in popularity.

The subfacial technique utilizes the strong covering of the muscle. The fascia is what covers the muscle and is the strongest part of the muscle. The subfacial technique for butt implant placement avoids the problems that can be associated with the placement of the implant below the muscle. It also is a much more secure pocket than can be achieved when placing the implant in the typical plane above the muscle. This strong covering will decrease the risk of the implant shifting over time. The fascia is strong and will help soften the edges of the implant.

The intramuscular technique like the subfacial method was developed to help with the issues associated with other methods of butt implant placement. The idea is that it avoids the nerves and other structures that are found in the submuscular position while giving some buffer to the implant by splitting the muscle. The issue with the intra-muscular placement is that the muscle is typically thinner than people expect which leaves very little muscle below and above the implant. Also unlike the subfacial technique the intra-muscular placement is not a natural plane so there is an artificial division of the muscle. This can damage the muscle and lead to more pain post-operative. If the nerves in the muscle are damaged the muscle can lose some of its strength over time.

WOULD BUTT IMPLANTS HELP CORRECT FLATNESS AND LATERAL HOLLOWNESS?

The lateral hollowness is present in most patients that present for a butt augmentation. The hollowness starts where the gluteus maximus muscle ends.

The flatness, volume, and lateral hollowness can all be improved with a silicone butt implant in patients that do not have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer). The implant will help improve the overall shape of the buttocks and hips.

We typically use a round silicone implant, as it will improve the lateral hollowness that most patients are concerned with in their buttocks. The two implants that can improve this and still give you a natural appearance are the 379cc and 548cc round buttock implants. These two implants have a gradual slope that gives the butt projection, but a natural contour.

This range of implants gives patients an amazing augmentation, but still keeps people guessing if you had an augmentation or not.

Before Surgery

HOW CAN I FIND AN EXPERIENCED SURGEON IN THE US WHO PERFORMS A LOT OF BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT PROCEDURES?

This is a great question as Brazilian Butt Lift is a relatively new procedure compared to other plastic surgery procedures. Butt augmentation in the US has been one of the fastest-growing procedures over the past couple of years. Choosing the right surgeon for your procedure can be difficult. Realself is a great place to start as many surgeons have a photo gallery of their before and after pictures. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons also lists all plastic surgeons that are board-certified and what procedures they perform. A couple of questions that you should ask before or during your consultation:

1. Is the physician a board-certified plastic surgeon?

2. Does he perform a high volume of butt augmentation procedures, specifically the Brazilian Butt Lift?
The physician should be able to provide you with before and after pictures or a link to their website that has before and after pictures.

There are a lot of good surgeons in the US and specifically here in the Austin area, however, everyone has a different style in terms of butt augmentation.

By reviewing the before and after pictures you will be able to decide what surgeon will be able to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
3. Where are the surgeries performed?
You want to make sure that your surgery is being performed at an accredited surgery center.

You also want to make sure that anesthesiologists and CRNAs are performing your anesthesia. People who have been specifically trained as anesthesia providers.

4. Comfort level with the surgeon
With all of the above being said you also have to have a personal comfort level with your surgeon, as you need to have open conversations with him or her so that they can guide you through your Brazilian Butt Lift surgery.

The Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is incredible as it creates an entire body transformation. The procedure not only enhances the buttock but shapes the waist as well.

SHOULD I GAIN WEIGHT BEFORE MY BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT

This is a very common question as some women do not have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift. However, some patients are surprised that they have enough fat when evaluated by an experienced plastic surgeon who performs a high volume of fat transfer procedures.

Patients that have a BMI over 22 and have never had liposuction before have a good possibility of being able to have a Brazilian Butt Lift. They will need a liposuction in multiple areas such as the flanks, back abdomen, and inner thighs. However, this liposuction in multiple areas will allow your surgeon to shape your entire body.

We tell patients who are thin or borderline that we are always cautious about having them gain weight because if they lose weight after the fat transfer procedure they will lose some of the fat that is transferred during the Brazilian Butt Lift.

If you are too thin for a Brazilian Butt Lift there are other options such as butt implants or a combination of butt implants and fat transfer. The combination is great for shaping the waist and giving patients the projection and shape that they desire.

CAN I USE FAT FROM SOMEONE ELSE (FAT DONOR)?

Fat cannot be taken from another person and used for your augmentation. There are two options for buttock augmentation, Brazilian Butt Lift, and butt implants they are both good procedures that each have their place. Often patients are surprised that they have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift and if not there are other options.

Fat cannot be taken from anyone else and transferred to your buttocks. Your body will reject the fat as it will know that it is not your fat. This will cause you long-term problems and should never be done.

The good news is that there are other good options besides fat for your buttock augmentation such as buttock implants. Some patients have both the fat transfer and implants as this helps improve the overall shape and gives them more augmentation than would be possible with either procedure alone.

The beauty of the procedure is that it uses your fat. However, the fat has to be incorporated. Occasionally some of the fat will not and you can get a hard spot that is easily treated.

The majority of patients here in Austin want an aesthetic figure that looks good in daily clothes. The Brazilian Butt Lift helps achieve that as it transforms the entire shape of the body and not just enhances the buttock.

If a patient has a high BMI, they are more likely to have a more difficult recovery.

CAN A DOCTOR BE PRECISE ABOUT HOW MANY CC HE CAN INJECT INTO BOTH HIPS AND BUTTOCKS?

Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer to the buttock) has become one of the fast-growing procedures in the U.S. over the past several years. As it has become more popular patients have become very educated on the topic. People often want it to be similar to breast augmentation where patients know before the surgery how many cc their breast implant will be prior to their surgery.

Fat transfer to the buttock is not as precise as a predetermined breast implant in terms of the exact amount of fat that can be transferred to each buttock. However, an experienced plastic surgeon can often have a very good idea about the amount of fat that will be available and give you a range. For example, we may tell a patient that I will transfer between 900 and 1100cc of fat per side. This gives them an idea of what is possible and lets them know that it is impossible to predict the exact amount of fat that will be transferred. The fat that is transferred is dependent on what is needed to achieve your aesthetic goals, available fat, and the amount of fat that can be accommodated by your buttocks.

Patients can help their plastic surgeon by bringing pictures of what their aesthetic goals are for their Brazilian Butt Lift. Then your surgeon can help guide you if those goals are realistic and he will have an idea of how much fat is necessary to achieve your desired result.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET AT LEAST 1200CC OF FAT TRANSFERRED INTO EACH BUTTOCK CHEEK?

This is a great question as both patients and plastic surgeons have started to have a better understanding of the volume that is needed for a Brazilian Butt Lift. In general, patients need at least 600cc of fat transferred to really achieve a significant enhancement and most patients receive more than that for their augmentation. The range of fat transfer can be from 600cc to 1300cc per side with the average being between 800 to 1000cc per side.

The amount that can be transferred depends on several factors. One is the amount of fat available for harvest from the patient (liposuction). Patients typically need at least a BMI of 22 to have enough fat for the augmentation. The reason people need so much fat is that I always process the fat prior to transferring it to the buttocks. This removes the excess fluid and oil. This is also important when you are comparing how much volume a surgeon is going to transfer. When I process the fat typically half of what is harvested (liposuctioned) is not good material for your augmentation and takes up valuable space in your buttock.

Second is the skin envelope, which is the buttock itself. The butt area can only hold a certain amount of fat. To increase the amount of fat that is transferred the fat is placed in various planes. This is important because the fat needs to be in contact with native tissues so that the fat will survive. At some point just forcing more fat into the buttock will not help enhance the buttock and just put you at risk for problems.

In your specific case, you have some butt already, which will allow you to have more fat transferred to your buttock. The limiting factor for you will be how much fat can be harvested (liposuctioned) from you for the augmentation. I would liposuction your back, flanks, abdomen, and inner thighs to get as much fat as possible for the augmentation. Realistically 1000cc per side would be the most that you would have available per side for your Brazilian Butt Lift based on your pictures.

HOW LONG BEFORE MY BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT SHOULD I STOP SMOKING?

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a great procedure because it transforms your entire body using your own fat. However, the fat is a graft and needs time to be incorporated when you move it from the areas that we liposuctioned to the butt that is augmented.

Smoking has a detrimental effect on this because it causes vasoconstriction (shrinking and blockage) of blood vessels. Since the fat is a graft it needs this blood to survive. Patients want to keep as much of the fat as possible when undergoing the procedure and no question that smoking will decrease the amount of fat that survives after the procedure.

We have patients quit smoking completely for an entire month before having their Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. This will optimize the amount of fat that will last after the transfer. Of note, you cannot use nicotine patches prior to surgery either as the nicotine causes the same issues as smoking.

IF I AM AT MY IDEAL WEIGHT NOW, SHOULD I GAIN A FEW POUNDS PRIOR TO MY BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT, IN CASE I LOSE FAT AFTER MY PROCEDURE?

This is a great question as it is a concern for most patients about losing some of the fat that has been transferred for their butt augmentation. If you are currently at your ideal weight for the procedure I would NOT recommend gaining any more weight.

Patients need liposuction in multiple areas such as the flanks, back abdomen, and inner thighs. However, this liposuction in multiple areas will allow your surgeon to shape your entire body. When you are at your ideal weight your surgeon knows exactly how much fat needs to be harvested (liposuctioned) for your augmentation. It also allows your plastic surgeon o sculpt you at your ideal weight to give you the best result possible from your Brazilian Butt Lift.

Patients have to be very careful about placing any pressure on their buttocks as the fat needs time to heal. This various techniques will help patients achieve the best result possible from their Brazilian Butt Lift.

After Surgery

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR BUTT AUGMENTATION IF I DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH FAT THE FIRST TIME I HAD A BBL?

This is a good question as thin patients often struggle to achieve the shape and projection of their buttocks to achieve the butt they desire.

The majority of patients are extremely happy with the results of their Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer), however occasionally in very thin patients they do not achieve the shape and augmentation that they desire. I typically make patients wait at least six months from their first surgery before deciding on any further surgery. This will give the body a chance to heal and all the swelling to resolve.

First of all the liposuction from the Brazilian Butt Lift typically improves the shape so patients had some benefit from the first surgery regardless of the augmentation. That liposculpting will help your final results when we improve your buttocks.

In thin patients with limited amounts of fat, we typically recommend butt implants. The implants can be done alone or in combination with fat transfer depending on the patient’s individual needs, such as more sculpting or if there is available fat for transfer. Some of our extremely thin patients do incredibly well with butt implants alone. The implants will augment the buttocks and hips. It gives the patients more projection and an improved shape.

I HAD A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT AND DID NOT ACHIEVE THE SIZE AND PROJECTION IN MY BUTT THAT I HAD WANTED, WHAT CAN I DO NOW?

Butt implants are a great option for patients that have had a Brazilian Butt Lift and still wish to have further augmentation of their buttocks. The majority of patients are extremely happy after their Brazilian Butt Lift, however, occasionally patients want more augmentation than fat alone can accomplish. The benefit of the Brazilian Butt Lift prior to augmentation with implants is that the person has already had some liposculpting to improve their overall figure. Also, the fat that has been transferred is used as a buffer to soften the implant’s feel and appearance.

We would make sure that at least three months have gone by prior to the second surgery with implants to allow time for the swelling to go down and settle. This will allow you to know what your final size will be and then have a better idea of what implant you need for your augmentation to reach your goals. The combination of butt implants and fat transfer has given patients an incredible result in my experience as they get the shaping of the liposuction and projection of the implants.

DO BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT RESULTS LAST?

This is a very common question as patients want the result to last if they are going to undergo surgery.

Fat transfer has become so popular because it allows your surgeon to use your own body tissue for the augmentation. Liposuction is performed over several areas depending on the individual patient’s needs, and the amount of fat needed.

The results tend to last for years to come if your weight is stable. Just like any liposuction procedure, this does not prevent your body from being able to put on weight.

With the fat transfer patients typically lose about 30% of the fat that is initially transferred, the fat that is present six months post-op will remain as long as your weight is stable. If you lose weight you can lose some of the transferred fat, and if you gain weight you can increase the size of your buttock. The benefit of the fat transfer is that the fat is your own and acts just like the fat in other parts of your body. The benefit of the Brazilian Butt Lift is not only the fat transferred to your buttock but the shape transformation. This new shape will last for years as you will now have more of an hourglass figure than a square shape.

Brazillian Butt Lift Austin, TX

If you are at a healthy weight and maintain that you will be able to enjoy your results for years to come.

The amount of fat needed depends on the shape and needs of each individual patient, however, in general, at least 500cc per buttock needs to be placed to see a significant difference. On average patients typically receive around 800cc per buttock side for a total of 1600cc of fat transfer. However, just like a breast augmentation the amount of fat needed varies from patient to patient.

FAT REABSORPTION AFTER THE PROCEDURE – SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?

The great benefit of the Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL, is that it uses your own body fat for augmentation and avoids the need for butt implants. The fat however survives as a graft, which means that the fat has to be incorporated into the surrounding tissue. The fat then feels and acts just like fat in other parts of your body. This is why you can have such a natural feel to your butt. It also means that you will have a result that will last you for years to come after the initial fat loss.

There are several things that you can do to decrease the amount of fat that is absorbed. One is not sitting after your procedure. The pressure of sitting can injure the fat and cause the fat that has been transferred to be absorbed. The fat needs time to heal and become incorporated in your butt.

If you are a smoker, stop. Smoking also impedes the healing and incorporation of the fat that has been transferred to your buttocks. Smoking causes vasoconstriction, which limits the blood flow to your newly transferred fat. The fat needs that blood supply to survive and give you the best result possible.

With all of the above recommendations, patients will still lose some portion of the fat that has been transferred from their Brazilian Butt Lift. In general, we do put as much fat as possible into the buttock, that it can safely handle. This will help patients achieve the best aesthetic result possible.

CAN I SIT AFTER MY BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

The Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL, utilizes your own natural fat for the augmentation. One of the keys to fat transfer is that it is incorporated and becomes your fat just in a better place!

The key is how we maximize the amount of fat that is going to “take” or survive for the augmentation. One of the things that can help increase the amount of fat that stays after the transfer is preventing any trauma to the buttock area, which includes sitting. The pressure of sitting can be harmful to the fat for the first couple of weeks after the transfer.

We typically have patients avoid sitting for two weeks after the surgery. They can walk and sleep on their belly, just no sitting. After the first two weeks, they can sit for an hour with a 10-minute break in between sitting sessions. After six weeks they can return to all of their normal routines.

The second important part of the Brazilian Butt Lift is the compression garment as you are asking. It is important that you have a specialized garment after your procedure. We have tried various garments, with and without material over the buttock area. From a patient comfort standpoint, we have found that the garments with a very soft mesh over the buttock have been best. However, this is a personal decision between you and your surgeon.

There are special pillows that patients can purchase that avoid any pressure on the buttock in the post-operative period so that they can sit at work and still protect their fat transfer procedure.

DO I NEED A COMPRESSION GARMENT AFTER MY BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?

The compression garment is an important part of your Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) as the full benefit of the procedure is not only from the fat transfer but also the liposculpting. It is important that you have a specialized garment after your procedure. We have tried various garments, with and without material over the buttock area. From a patient comfort standpoint, we have found that the garments with a very soft mesh over the buttock have been best. However, this is a personal decision between you and your surgeon.

AFTER GETTING A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT CAN I DO REGULAR EXERCISE?

The Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL, utilizes your own natural fat for the augmentation. One of the keys to fat transfer is that it is incorporated and becomes your fat just in a better place!

We always tell patients that the fat will act just like fat in any other parts of their body, if you gain weight your butt will get bigger if you lose weight your butt will probably get smaller. We encourage you to do butt workouts or any type of structured exercise.

WILL BUTT WORKOUTS ENHANCE MY RESULTS?

The Brazilian Butt Lift has become so popular because it not only enhances your butt, it improves your overall shape.

We encourage you to do butt workouts or any type of structured exercise. Typically patients who take care of their bodies and specifically do exercises focused on the buttocks tend to enhance their results. These workouts will build your gluteal muscles and thus enhance your natural results.

Combination Surgeries

CAN A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT BE DONE AFTER BUTT IMPLANTS?

A Brazilian Butt Lift can be done after butt implants if patients need fat transfer. The benefit is not only the additional fat that is added that can fill any gaps that were not enhanced by the implants but can also improve the overall shape of the patient.

The benefit of the Brazilian Butt Lift is that it shapes the waist as fat is liposuctioned (harvested) to be used for the enhancement. Then the fat can be used to enhance the over shape of the buttock and hips. It will also help buffer the implant so that is has a more natural feel and look to the augmentation.

The only issues is that a large percentage of women that have butt implants have them because they were to thin for fat transfer. If you have enough fat then you can certainly have a Brazilian Butt Lift after your augmentation with implants.

BUTT IMPLANTS AND FAT TRANSFER – CAN THEY BE COMBINED?

This is a great question as many women are doing a butt augmentation to enhance their overall figure in addition to improving their buttock. Butt implants can enhance the overall shape of the buttock but typically on their own do not give patients an hourglass figure. In women that are very thin or want more augmentation than I can provide with fat alone I will do a combination of butt implants and fat transfer. This will allow me to shape the waist with liposulpting, use the implant to give the buttock an incredible shape and then use the fat to enhance the hip area creating the hourglass shape.

Implants are great for projection, however some women can use the fat along their hip area to improve the overall shape. The combination can give patients a very aesthetically pleasing result.

In the majority of my butt implant patients we do some fat grafting to help improve the hip area and create more of an hourglass shape.

BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT AND A BREAST AUGMENTATION, ARE COMBINED PROCEDURES RECOMMENDED?

This is a very common question in my practice. It is hard for most patients to take too much time off work and they want to make the most of their time off. They also just want to get everything done at one time.

If the patient is only having a breast augmentation with no lift we would do them at the same time. If they need a lift or other breast work beyond the standard breast augmentation they would need to do them in separate settings. We do this for several reasons:

  • We limit surgeries to about five hours as it decreases the risks of surgery
  • We do not let patients sit for two weeks after their Brazilian Butt lift to protect the fat that has been transferred.
  • If we need to do a breast lift or other internal breastwork we do not want patients to lay on the fresh incision lines immediately after surgery

BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT AND A TUMMY TUCK, ARE COMBINED PROCEDURES RECOMMENDED?

This is a very common question in our practice. It is hard for most patients to take too much time off work and they want to make the most of their time off. They also just want to get everything done at one time.

We typically have patients do the there surgeries at separate times for several reasons.

We limit surgeries to about five hours as it decreases the risks of surgery
We do not let patients sit for two weeks after their Brazilian Butt lift to protect the fat that has been transferred.
When we do the tummy tuck we make their abdominal area as tight and flat as possible, the combination of this and the butt augmentation would not give patients a comfortable position for the first couple of week post-op.
