Ozempic Breast
Consultations offered at our three convenient locations in Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX and Westlake Hills, TX
“Ozempic breast” describes the sagging and loss of volume in the breasts after medical weight loss using medications like semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound). These medications effectively lead to life-changing weight loss but can lead to volume loss in areas that patients may not anticipate, such as in the breast. To remedy skin sagging, breast thinning, and volume loss, patients have multiple treatment options that can restore their breast shape and contour.
At Austin Plastic Surgeon, our team of experienced physicians and medical professionals specialize in plastic surgery after massive weight loss; specifically, patients who have been on semaglutide and tirzepatide weight loss medications. Performing everything from facelifts to breast augmentation, we offer comprehensive care to patients in and around Austin. Those who have lost significant amounts of weight and seek volumizing, lifting, and tightening treatments can benefit immensely from scheduling a private consultation with us.

What Causes “Ozempic Breasts”?
As part of the weight-loss revolution, medical weight-loss regimens can lead to incredible results for patients. After using GLP-1 medications like semaglutide, patients report losing up to 20% of their starting body weight. A common side effect not always considered when patients start this treatment is the possibility of losing volume in the face, buttocks, and breasts. (1)
As the body sheds pounds with the help of these treatments, it is not necessarily restricted to the abdomen, legs, or other areas of concern. Because of weight loss, there is a chance that the patient’s skin will not “snap back” into position. There is a limit to how much the skin will shrink after weight loss and this varies from person to person. This can lead to sagging (ptosis), volume loss, and a change in the size and appearance of the breasts. For patients who already have breast implants, Ozempic breasts can present as noticeable rippling as they have lost volume around the implant.
What Do Ozempic Breasts Look Like?
One of the first and most noticeable places patients lose volume during medical weight loss is the breasts. As the fat shrinks, the skin can become lax and the shape loses its previous structure, you can also lose the tissue surrounding your previous implant (if you have one currently) leading to increased rippling. This can lead to a change in cleavage, a reduction in breast size, and a shifting of the nipple-areola complex.
Breast ptosis can lead to a downward-facing nipple and volume loss in the breast’s upper poles. The most effective way to restore the breast’s shape and nipple position is a breast lift. For patients who seek an increase in size, our plastic surgeons can perform this procedure in tandem with a breast augmentation. The physicians at Austin Plastic Surgeon create a personalized procedure plan that helps you reach your body contouring goals after you have put in the work to lose weight. Many patients who have Ozempic breast have worked really hard to lose weight and don’t want huge breasts, they are just looking to restore the volume they have lost in their breasts.
Treatments for Ozempic Breast
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
One of the most effective ways to correct breast ptosis after weight loss is to receive a breast lift. Also referred to as mastopexy, this cosmetic procedure removes excess skin from the lower pole of the breast and repositions the nipple higher onto the chest. This combination of actions restores the breast shape to a more youthful-looking and structured contour.
We start the procedure by administering the appropriate anesthetic, then administer local numbing to the treatment area. The surgeon then measures the nipple-areolar complex to reshape it into a more symmetrical and proportionate size if necessary. They separate the nipple from the surrounding skin without completely removing it, then remove excess skin from underneath it. After achieving the desired contour, they suture the breast in layers and elevate the nipple. This surgery is meant to reshape and restore the skin around the breasts but does not change their overall size.
Breast Augmentation
A breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that increases the size of the breasts by placing an implant underneath the tissue. Surgeons can create internal breast pockets to safely hold silicone implants to provide adequate upper pole volume. They can perform this surgery alone or in combination with a breast lift to completely revitalize a patient’s chest.
First, they place incisions either around the nipple-areolar complex, along the lower breast crease, or through the armpit depending on the patient’s anatomy and preference. Next, they create a pocket over or under the pectoral muscle and then place the implant safely within it. Finally, they suture the pocket and the breast tissue to preserve its new structure. (2) If the patient requests both a breast lift and augmentation, our surgeons place the implant first before removing any tissue to lift the chest contour.
Gummy Bear Implants
Gummy bear implants have become extremely popular for the treatment of Ozempic Breasts as the highly cohesive nature of the implants helps decrease the risk of rippling. The term “gummy bear” comes from the resemblance of these implants to the shape and consistency of gummy bear candies. They are sometimes referred to as cohesive gel implants or form-stable implants. There are now several options in terms of the degree of cohesiveness of the breast implant to help decrease rippling.
Internal Bra
The internal bra is a revolutionary technique in the field of plastic surgery that offers support and lift to sagging breasts. This innovative procedure utilizes a surgical mesh or suture support system to provide long-lasting tissue suspension, resulting in beautifully firm and rejuvenated breasts. The internal bra has become critical in the treatment of Ozempic breast as it does several things to enhance the breast. Not only does it add structural support to the breast but it also decreases the risk of rippling.
Fat Transfer
Fat Transfer to the breast, also known as autologous fat grafting, has become an extremely popular option to restore the volume they have lost. By utilizing a patient’s own fat from another area of the body, surgeons can create the desired breast contour free from sagging. This technique offers an alternative to traditional breast augmentation with implants, providing patients with a more organic and personalized approach to breast reshaping and contouring.

Ideal Candidates
To qualify for breast enhancement surgery, candidates should be in good overall health with no serious medical conditions that could interfere with recovery. They typically have skin laxity surrounding the chest and a desire to reshape and restore the area. They should be through with their weight loss treatment and must maintain a healthy, consistent weight before surgery for optimal results. If a candidate smokes tobacco or nicotine products, they should quit at least one month before their procedure to avoid complications.
Personal Consultation at Austin Plastic Surgeon
You will meet with a member of our team of experts for a private consultation to discuss your candidacy. They will perform a physical examination of the treatment area and inquire about your medical history. Make sure to inform them of your current medications and the specifics of your weight loss journey. If you are a good candidate, they will create a procedure plan that addresses your cosmetic desires. Your provider will then explain the chosen surgery from beginning to end and may suggest additional treatments or a combination to make sure your needs will be met. After your consultation, a member of our staff will schedule your procedure and follow-up appointments.
Recovery & Results
Each cosmetic procedure requires specific amounts of downtime to properly heal. In general, most patients take at least 1 week off of work to rest. It will take 4 to 6 weeks to completely recover from cosmetic breast surgery. Your plastic surgeon will provide a compression garment to curb swelling and support the treatment area. They will also advise you on how long you should wear this garment until it is safe to switch to a sports bra.
The results of a breast augmentation or lift may be immediately visible. They settle into a more natural-looking position over time, and final results may not be noticeable for 6 months to a year. The incision sites fade with time and results are long-lasting. Gravity and the effects of aging eventually impact the shape and size of the breasts. To preserve breast contouring, maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine, and always wear sunscreen when in direct sunlight.
Complementary Procedures
Ozempic Butt Treatment
We perform many types of body sculpting treatments to improve a patient’s contouring and body shape following massive weight loss. Like Ozempic breasts, Ozempic butt is defined as the loss of volume and excess skin around the buttocks. To address this area, we often recommend a Brazilian butt lift or butt lift with auto-augmentation. This procedure uses liposuction and fat grafting to add natural tissue to the buttocks, enhancing their overall size and contour. A BBL can also provide additional body contouring to the abdomen, thighs, flanks, or back. Our surgeons perform liposuction using tumescent fluid, clean the fatty tissue, and safely place it into the buttocks through injection. Additional treatments for Ozempic butt include:
- RF Microneedling
- Sofwave
- Sculptra
- Alloclae
- Hyperdiluted Radiesse
- Renuvion
- Pure-Impact
Renuvion
To improve skin elasticity without surgery, Renuvion utilizes radio frequency and helium gas to cause the skin to contract. Our experts perform this treatment using a cannula (hollow tube) to target loose and sagging skin from the inside. We often combine Renuvion with liposuction as it can use the same incisions. Physicians insert the cannula just underneath the skin and the radiofrequency causes controlled damage to the treatment area as the helium gas provides instant cooling. This prevents the area from getting too hot and instigates tightening at the same time, greatly enhancing results.
Dermal Fillers for Ozempic Face
Ozempic use not only leads to breast ptosis or sagging buttocks but can also deplete volume in the face. Our talented staff can replace this lost volume using dermal fillers. With products like Juvederm and Radiesse, we can plump the area with simple and effective injections. They stimulate the production of collagen and elastin fibers to prompt healing within the targeted tissues. This allows for ongoing results and a rejuvenated complexion.
